The Jammu Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in the Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
In an official press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, the Police said that continuing its drive against drug peddlers and its propagators, Awantipora Police arrested two drug peddlers at Toll Plaza Naka.
The arrested were identified as Showkat Ahmad Teli resident of Sheikh Mohalla Soura Srinagar, Manzoor Ahmad Kounda, a resident of Dawood Colony Soura Srinagar.
The duo, as per the Police press release, were arrested while traveling in Scooty bearing registration number JK01AH-4575 from Sanagam towards Awantipora, Also, two kgs of grinded Charas was recovered from their possession.

The Scooty used for the commission of the offence has also been seized.
During preliminary questioning of the arrested duo, they admitted that they received the recovered contraband from one person namely Feroz Ahmad Beigh, resident of Hariparigam Awantipora.
After completing the legal formalities, the police team of Awantipora along with the magistrate searched the house at Hariparigam and recovered 50 grams of Heroin, 01 kg of Charas Powder and 12 Kgs of grinded Cannabis from the house.
Accordingly, Feroz Ahmad Beigh was also arrested, The Jammu Kashmir Police said.
Consequent upon this case FIR Number 3/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and the investigation of the instant case is going on.
