Police Arrests Youth in Jammu Kashmir For ‘Hurting Religious Sentiments’

Days after the blasphemy remarks made by a Hindu priest in Reasi area of Jammu, triggering massive protests at many places in Jammu Kashmir, the Local Police has arrested a man for hurting the religious sentiments of another community.

An official said that the police have arrested a young man in Batote for hurting religious sentiments on Social media, whom they identified as Mohammed Zahid Son of Abdul Rashid Rather, who is a resident of Champa in Batote area of Jammu Kashmir.

The arrest was made after the young man posted objectionable comments on Facebook thereby hurting the religious sentiments of a particular community.

A case under FIR no 48/2020 U/S 295-A/153-A/IPC registered at the police station in Batote and investigation is being taken up, the official said.
