Tens and thousands of people from cross sections of society participated in the rally called at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi to protest against against the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal.
“Let us join hands and march forward together,” urged Mallikarjun Kharge at the INDIA rally, emphasizing the collective effort needed for the nation’s welfare.
“Our unity is not just for individuals like Hemant or Kejriwal but for the entire population of 1.4 billion. Despite our differences, we stand united for a greater cause.” Asserting their stance against the BJP, Kharge stated, “We will demonstrate to the BJP that the people are fed up… Their claims of surpassing 400 seats are baseless; it’s mere wishful thinking.”
In his address, Kharge criticized the RSS, likening it to poison, and emphasized their commitment to upholding the constitution and ensuring inclusive development, unlike the BJP’s focus on a select few.
Highlighting alleged political vendettas, Kharge mentioned Hemant’s plight and accused Modi of manipulating the system for political gains. He criticized the unfair playing field orchestrated by the ruling party.
Kharge accused Modi of undermining democracy and favoring tyranny over constitutional values. He emphasized the importance of opposition unity in safeguarding the nation’s integrity against threats to democratic institutions.
Rahul Gandhi echoed Kharge’s sentiments, warning against BJP’s attempts to subvert the Constitution and stressing the significance of the ongoing election in preserving democratic principles.
Drawing parallels to sports, Gandhi accused Modi of orchestrating a political “match-fixing” through manipulation of electoral mechanisms and coercion of opponents.Akhilesh Yadav expressed confidence in defeating the BJP and reclaiming political power, rallying against their alleged authoritarian tendencies.
Sitaram Yechury emphasized the need to defeat communalism to address issues like corruption and unemployment, framing the election as a battle for India’s soul.
Farooq Abdullah underscored the shared objective of protecting the constitution, highlighting threats faced by judicial independence while Derek O’Brien criticized BJP’s governance, accusing them of suppressing dissent and failing to address critical issues like the Pulwama attack.
Tejashwi Yadav decried rising unemployment and inflation under BJP rule, rallying against what he perceived as an assault on democracy.
Kalpana Soren stressed the importance of people’s unity in opposing authoritarianism and defending democratic values.
Sunita Kejriwal outlined Arvind Kejriwal’s guarantees for Delhi’s development, despite his incarceration, and rallied support for the INDIA alliance.
