President Ram Nath Kovind arrived here on Sunday on his four-day visit to Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh.
Officials said Kovind reached the Srinagar airport here at 11.15 am and was received by Jammu Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and senior officials of police and administration.
He said that on this tour from July 25 to July 28, the President will visit Drass in Ladakh on Monday to pay tribute at the Kargil War Memorial on the 22nd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
Earlier in 2019, the President was unable to visit Drass to participate in Kargil Vijay Diwas due to bad weather and instead paid tribute by laying a wreath at the war memorial at the Army’s 15th Corps headquarters in Badami Bagh area here. On Tuesday, the President will address the 19th convocation of Kashmir University.
As part of security arrangements for the President’s visit, traffic on two routes leading to the Raj Bhavan (where the President will stay) has been diverted from Sunday to Wednesday, officials said. A traffic department official said that diversion has been done in some areas of the city.
