Protest in Anantanag against Blasphemy

In a continuation of protests against the blasphemous comment by a Hindu priest in India, massive protest demonstration was held from the Jamia Masjid of Islamabad (Anantnag).

Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday scores of people led by Ummat -E- Islam chairman, Qazi Ahmed Yasir, shouting pro Islamic slogans protested in the Jamia Masjid compound.

Addressing the gathering here, the chairman of Ummat -E- Islami said that time and again it has been proven that India is loosing space for minorities. “Policies like the domicile laws, CAA, NRC laws, Cow vigilantism,  and attacks on minorities show that the space for minorities has shrunk in India,” he said while addressing the crowds here.

The policemen tried to block the gates of the mosque, however people in larger numbers moved forward shouting slogans against the blasphemy.

Police later raided the house of Qazi Ahmed Yasir who went into hiding.
