Several Kashmiri Pandits staged a protest in Jammu’s Muthi area on Tuesday against the attack on a Kashmiri Pandit in the Shopian district.
The protests have raised slogans against the Government and said that the Government is not doing enough to provide them with security. “We demand protection from such attacks,” they said.
They said that Kashmiri pandits are being targeted again by Pakistan-backed militants and Pandits will not let any agenda succeed.
On Monday evening militants fired at and injured Sonu Kumar, of Chotagam village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Meanwhile, local Muslims have strongly condemned the attack on the Kashmiri Pandits.
“It is very wrong and against the teachings of Islam. He is a farmer like us and a very helpful person. He is always ready to help others, we live like brothers,” Mukhtar Ahmad, a neighbor of Sonu Kumar said.
The Director-General Jammu and Kashmir Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh told reporters on Tuesday that terrorists were enemies of people and their handlers across the border can’t digest the fact that people in Kashmir are leading a peaceful life.
