Hundreds of people in Okho Kakpora of Pulwama today chanted slogans of “Give justice, take back the decision” and strongly demanded the government to take back this decision.
Locals said that earlier, the administration had identified about 100 kanals of land in the area for the purpose of it being transferred to the paramilitary.
They said that a large CRPF camp was being set up on this land.
But, locals added that they will never allow the government to implement the CRPF colony on this land.
Hundreds of people protested against the government’s decision, demanding that the government reverse the decision and respect the sentiments and feelings of the people. “We do not have anywhere else to go, our generations have been farming here, hundreds of families are dependent on this land, now the land is being transferred to CRPF, ” a local resident said.
A top leadership of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) assured the protesters that they would find a solution by taking the party’s central leadership into confidence to overturn the government’s decision, after which the protesters dispersed peacefully.
Meanwhile, the local panchayat committee has also demanded a review of the decision and demanded the government to reverse the decision.
