Protesters Tuesday blocked the highway in Batwara Srinagar, hours after the killing of a migrant Government teacher posted in a Government school in Kulgam’s Gopalpora area.
Rajni, a female teacher was shot by gunmen, a few meters away from her school when she was on the way to her school.
The 36-year-old was shifted to the Damhal hospital, however, she was declared brought dead on her arrival at the medical facility.
Immediately after the killing, Kashmiri Pandits staged protests in Anantnag’s Mattan and Vessu areas. Protests also erupted in Batwara area of Srinagar district.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, a protesting Kashmiri Pandit expressed anguish over the claims of normalcy in the valley, “as projected by the administration.”
“The administration has completely failed to provide security to Kashmiri Pandits. It has just been a few weeks since our colleague Rahul Bhatt was killed in Budgam inside a Government office and today, another Hindu lady was shot dead outside a Government school. The Government has completely failed. They seem to be in a deep slumber,” he said, appealing to the Government to intervene.
Satish Mahaldar, a Kashmiri Pandit who is the chairman of JK peace forum has urged all communities and groups to reject such incidents in any form.
“Despite GOIs fake claims about Kashmir being normal its obvious that targeted civilian killings are on the rise & a deep cause of concern. Condemn this act of cowardice which sadly plays into the vicious anti muslim narrative spun by BJP,” Mehbooba Mufti stated while strongly condemning the killings.
