Expressing grief over the death of two minor children belonging to the Bakerwal family due to cold, State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (M) Ghulam Nabi Malik on Tuesday urged the administration to provide relief and shelter to the nomadic families who are putting up in tents in the valley.
In a statement here this afternoon Mr Malik urged the administration to provide ex gratia relief and shelter to the families of the deceased children, who died due to shelter in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district yesterday.
The administration must provide shelter and ration to such nomadic families who are putting here and facing severe problems in winter due to extreme cold. There are reports that various nomadic families are putting up in the valley during the prevailing harsh winter without any shelter.
He urged the Governor administration to issue directions to all Deputy Commissioners of the valley to identify the number of such nomadic families who are putting up here in each district during this chilly winter and provide them shelter and ration.
