Pulwama Encounter- House owner’s son among slain: Police

The joint forces on Sunday morning addressed the press in the Shopian district of South Kashmir wherein they jointly highlighted the upper-hand of Government forces in combatting militancy.

Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police addressing the media identified the militants slain in Pulwama as  Zahid Manzoor Wani, a resident of Kareemabad Pulwama, and said that he was one of the most-wanted militants. He said that a Pakistani militant was also killed during the encounter.

“Inayat (house owner’s son) was given a chance to surrender constantly, however, he kept on firing on forces constantly,” he said adding that Inayat was also aiding the Pakistani militant and had been constantly supporting him.

“He was a hybrid militant,” the IGP said. He said that the house owner at Naira, Pulwama, in whose house the encounter took place, will be booked under UAPA,” IGP Kashmir said.
