Pulwama incident: ‘Elderly woman dies after Son-in-law allegedly pushes her during fight with wife’, says Police

Police have stated that an elderly woman, Khurshi Begum (62), died in Pulwama’s Gudoora area after being allegedly pushed by her son-in-law during an argument at his residence on Monday evening.

According to the police, “Yesterday evening at about 1800 hours, one lady namely Khurshi Begum W/o Ab Rehman Dar R/o Looswani was brought dead to DH Pulwama. Reportedly, the deceased was present at her daughter’s home at Gudoora. Deceased’s daughter, namely Rafeeqa Bano W/o Mohammad Aslam Mir R/o Gudoora, and her husband were having some arguments, and the deceased also got into it. During this process, reportedly accused pushed her, and she collapsed.”

The police have registered an FIR (No. 257/2024) under relevant sections of law following a written complaint by Rafeeqa Bano against her husband, Mohammad Aslam Mir.

“In this regard, Rafeeqa Bano (complainant) gave a written complaint against her husband, Mohammad Aslam Mir, on which an FIR has been lodged at PS Pulwama, and the investigation has been taken up,” the statement added.

The accused has been taken into custody while further investigations continue to ascertain the circumstances of the incident.

This tragic incident has once again brought attention to family disputes and their devastating consequences, with authorities urging residents to seek help to resolve conflicts before they escalate.
