Release Funds for Land Acquisition Cases: Usman Majid Urges JK Administration

Apni Party Vice President Usman Majid on Monday expressed deep resentment with regard to an unending delay faced by the people who are awaiting compensation against their land acquired by different governmental departments during the last many years.

In a statement issued here, Majid said that in the erstwhile state of J&K Private Negotiation Committees (PNCs) headed by District Deputy Commissioners who promptly settled rates for the acquired lands have failed to deliver the awarded money because of lack of funds.

He asserted that from past many years such settlements and adequate release of compensation in favor of people who gave up their land rights are being pushed from pillar to post.

“People are facing an immense administrative apathy with regards to the release of funds in their favor while their lands have been acquired by the government for the last so many years. Justice is being denied to them which is detrimental to the values and ethics of a welfare state,” he remarked.

He urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take appropriate steps with regard to the redressal of this important issue and direct the administrative institutions to resolve the pressing pleas of these people on a prompt basis. (KDC)
