Various Coaching centers across Kashmir taking the Government orders for a toss, in order to further their business prospects have advertised various Government School lecturers and teachers as the teaching staff in their coaching centres, in fact, many of them have already started teaching in Private tuition centers in the Kashmir valley.

In October 2015 the government imposed a ban on private tuitions by teachers serving in state-run schools, saying it amounts to “moral turpitude” and is a serious violation of service conduct rules’’.

A similar circular was issued in January 2017 asking school teachers not to teach in coaching centers.

As per the government services Act, government employees cannot indulge in private businesses like teaching in tuition centers.

In South Kashmir’s Anantnag, Kulgam districts and in Central Kashmir’s Budgam and Srinagar districts, the private tuition centers have clearly defied the norms as many Government teachers are teaching in these private centers for winter tuitions.

The Kashmiriyat spoke to a few parents from Tangramrg area of Baramulla in North Kashmir who complained that if new teachers were brought into the service, unemployment could have been avoided. “The coaching centres would also charge less money, we have talented youth in all sectors of life, they can do better than many who charge huge lumps of money from the parents of the wards.”

On reports of certain private coaching institutes in Kashmir being run by Government Teachers and some not having a license to practice The Kashmiriyat spoke to an officer of the education department.

The officer said that no guidelines had been violated.
