‘Sand Extraction Being Done Illegally by Outsiders in Kashmir’- Mehbooba Mufti Not Allowed to Visit Shopian’s Rambi Ara

Mehbooba Mufti, The Former chief minister and PDP chief on Saturday afternoon said that she was barred from visiting Rambiara Nalla in Shopian.

On the Micro-blogging site, Twitter, the PDP Chief said that sand extraction was going on in the Nalla through the illegal tenders and the same was being done by people from outside Jammu Kashmir.

“I was stopped from visiting Rambiara Nalla today by a local admin. This is where sand extraction through illegal tenders has been outsourced to outsiders & locals are barred from the area. Our land & resources are being plundered by GOI that has nothing but contempt for us,” Mehbooba Mufti tweeted.

Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that dozens of Government Personnel blocked the way of the Former chief Minister on the way to Rambi Ara and disallowed her to move towards the area.

The Regional parties are also being allegedly stopped from campaigning from the upcoming District Development Council polls. The former chief Ministers have castigated the Bhartiya Janta Party for not allowing the Non_BJp Candidates to campaign.

Meanwhile the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Saturday said that security cannot and should not be used as a tool or an excuse to interfere in democratic processes.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar earlier said that they are providing security to each candidate contesting the polls is difficult. “We are providing them collective security and they are being put up in secure areas,” he said.

IGP Vijay Kumar has said “Whenever any candidate goes out for
campaigning, we provide a double escort with him and secure the area for him to the campaign,” he said.
