Senior government official rapes domestic help in Jammu Kashmir

A senior government official was booked under charges of rape in Banihal area of Jammu Kashmir.

According to Daily Excelsior, Yawar Amin, the accused, currently serving as an assistant engineer in Samagra Shiksha Ramban, is currently on the run, avoiding arrest, as per a report by Daily Excelsior.

The victim, an 18-year-old girl employed as a domestic helper at Amin’s residence for a fixed monthly salary of Rs 6000, claimed that she was assaulted by him while alone at his home.

Following the incident, the victim, hailing from Soof Shali, Kokernag, Anantnag, along with her father, visited the police station to file a report. The Police Station Banihal has registered a case under FIR No. 29/2024, citing Sections 420/376/34 IPC.

Despite ongoing efforts by the police to apprehend the accused, he remains at large. Anuj Kumar, SSP Ramban, stated that the victim has been admitted to the hospital, and her statement under Section 164 is scheduled to be recorded on Monday, as reported by Excelsior.
