Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be celebrated in Jammu Kashmir on Saturday as the Shawwal moon has not been sighted today so far.
Shawwal moon was also not sighted in any part of India, including Pakistan, so far.
The Grand Mufti of J&K Nasir-ul-slam said, “Not a single testimony of moon sighting was received so far from any part of J&K, therefore, the 1st of Shawwal 1439 is likely to be on Tuesday, 03 May.
Based on local moon sighting, Eid-ul-Fitr will likely to be celebrated on Tuesday 03 May 2022”, he said.
Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal, marking the culmination of the month-long Ramadhan.
Shawwal is the 10th month of the lunar Islamic calendar.
