The Jammu Kashmir Police on Thursday refuted the reports of Shopian woman having died of a heart attack and said that she died of Covid 19.

An official speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the woman named Ateeqa Banoo was admitted to the District hospital Shopian at 7 AM on Thursday and her oxygen saturation level had dropped down to 40.

“Ateeqa was also reported as a covid death by the district hospital Shopian,” the official told The Kashmiriyat.

Meanwhile, the Shopian Police tweeted, “Police Shopian refutes the baseless and fake news circulating on social media regarding the death of One lady Ateeqa of Beminapora. It’s clarified that said lady died of COVID infection In DH Shopian.”

The Kashmiriyat had earlier reported that the mother of a 28-year-old youth allegedly died of a cardiac arrest hours after her son was detained during a cordon and search operation in the Biminipora area of the Vehil belt in South Kashmir on Thursday evening.

The family members told The Kashmiriyat that a youth identified as Sameer Ahmed Wani son of Habibullah Wani was picked up during a cordon and search operation launched jointly by Government Forces in the Biminpora area of Shopian.

The Police have called the allegations of the family baseless.
