Shopian’s development priorities discussed at public darbar

Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Medical Education, chaired a Public Darbar at Shopian under the UT government’s outreach program.

In a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, official said, the session aimed to connect with the public, address grievances, and evaluate welfare and development issues.

Delegations, including DD/BD Council, MC Councillors, fruit growers, traders, tribal leaders, activists, civil society members, youth, and other groups, presented various concerns and demands.

These ranged from establishing a Press Club to improving hostel facilities, introducing new subjects at the Higher Secondary level, ensuring water supply, revising the Master Plan of Shopian Town, developing a Municipal Park, enhancing power transmission, and addressing library services at the District Library.

Additionally, health-related issues were raised, such as establishing a Maternity Hospital, filling vacant posts, improving healthcare facilities, and upgrading the NTPHC Ramnagri.

The Secretary expressed gratitude for the active participation, ensuring the prompt redressal of issues.

He directed officials to note grievances, follow up vigorously for resolutions, and emphasized inter-departmental coordination for comprehensive welfare.

Dr. Abid urged officers to focus on formal redressal mechanisms, specifically instructing the Director Health and CMO Shopian to address health sector demands.

The Secretary underscored the need for public engagement, cooperation, and concerted efforts from officers to make the district a model of all-round development.

Deputy Commissioner Faz Lul Haseeb outlined measures taken by the district administration for public welfare, with key officials present at the event, including Director Health Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, SSP Tanushree, ADDC Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone, and ADC Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, alongside DDC and BDC members and a large public attendance.
