Shouting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ Slogans, Four Nuns Attacked by Bajrang Dal Activists

In Jhansi, four nuns including two postulants were attacked by Bajrang Dal members while travelling by train from Delhi to Odisha.

The nuns said that Bajrang Dal members boarded the train and created a disturbance on the train after seeing the postulants with them. The nuns said that Bajrang Dal members approached the railway police and told them that the postulants were taken for religious conversion.

The nuns had displayed their identity proof to the members of Bajrang Dal and Aadhar cards and told them, “we are Christians We were returning to our homes in Odisha.”

The Bajrang Dal members shouted Jai Shri Ram and harassed us, the nuns said. The nuns were evicted from the train, on the railway station, a large number of goons gathered there and abused the nuns and were taken to custody by the female police.

The nuns were released after senior police officials and the church authorities intervened in the matter.

The police authorities told the nuns that they will be taken to their homes safely but were made to travel for 24 hours in fear by the train.

On Monday, the Syro-Malabar church condemned the incident.
