Shri Ram Sena welcomes new government, demands restoration of Durbar move

Shri Ram Sena (SRS) and its Jammu Kashmir president, Rajiv Mahajan, extended their congratulations to the newly formed J-K government on Wednesday.

In an official statement, Mahajan expressed optimism about the future governance of the region while also highlighting key issues of concern for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mahajan stressed the importance of restoring statehood, a long-standing demand since the region’s reorganization in 2019. He argued that statehood is crucial for ensuring political dignity and greater autonomy, enabling the people to have a more significant role in their governance.

He also called for the reinstatement of the traditional Darbar Move practice. “The Darbar Move, a biannual shifting of the administrative capital between Srinagar and Jammu, was a governance hallmark for over a century until its abolition in 2021,” he noted.

Mahajan emphasized that restoring the Darbar Move is vital for maintaining regional balance and ensuring both Jammu and Kashmir receive equitable attention. He added that the practice had served as a symbol of unity, promoting better administration and fostering a sense of inclusivity across the diverse regions of Jammu Kashmir.

The SRS president urged the new government to prioritize these issues, reaffirming the party’s commitment to advocating for the rights and aspirations of the people of Jammu Kashmir.
