Singapore bans ‘provocative’ and ‘one-sided’ film Kashmir files

Singapore has banned Hindi film ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie saying the film is “beyond” Singapore’s film classification guidelines.

“The violation of the rules and laws is leading it to get banned,” read a joint statement by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

“The film will be refused classification for its provocative and one-sided portrayal of Muslims” authorities said speaking on Channel News Asia.

It further added, “any material that is denigrating to racial or religious communities in Singapore” will be refused to be classified.
