Six Drug Peddlers Including Four Non-Locals Arrested in Kulgam

The Jammu Kashmir Police arrested six drug peddlers, including four non-locals during two different incidents in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Monday.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that two drug peddlers were arrested by the Police Party of Police Station Devsar led by SHO Devsar, Jazib Mohammad under the supervision of I/C DySP PC Kulgam Sheikh Tahir Amin at main market Devsar while patrolling.

The Police recovered 18 Kg of Poppy Straw like substance from the possession of the duo identified as Haziq Rather, a resident of Sopat and Jatinder Singh, resident of Guman Khurad Gurdaspora.

The Police has lodged a case under the FIR No. 08/2021 U/S 8/15,29 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Devsar and investigation is in progress.

During another incident, Four Drug peddlers were arrested during Naka checking at Nippora crossing by the Police party of Police post-Mirbazar led by I/C PP Mirbazar Sub Inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad and CRPF (46 Bn) under the supervision of SHO Qazigund Irshad Reshi and SDPO Qazigund Mohd Shafiq, the official told The Kashmiriyat.

During the Checking, a vehicle bearing registration Number. HR60P-6076 (Santro Car) was stopped in which four persons were on board.

During checking Poppy Straw like substance weighing 40 Kgs filled in three Bags was recovered from their possession.

The arrested were identified as Ravipal, resident of Chogawan Jalandar, Gurvinder Singh, R/O Godawali Jalandar, Reshpal Singh R/O Kud Patnitop and Sukhwinder Kumar R/O Chogawan Jalandar.

The four persons were arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized after which Jammu Kashmir Police filed an FIR No. 37/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and further investigation is in progress.
