Uncle allegedly poisons 6 minors in Anantnag; ‘Verifying incident,’ says Police

Six children were poisoned allegedly by their uncle in the Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday evening.

The family of the six minor children speaking to The Kashmiriyat alleged that the six were poisoned by their uncle on Tuesday at their residence in the Gadol area of Kokernag in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir.

“He had mixed poison in the water container that the children drink water from. It is all happening over a property dispute,” the father of the six alleged.

Officials at the Government Medical College of Anantnag speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the six were admitted to the hospital after they had consumed poison, however, from the GMC they were shifted to the Maternity and Child Care Hospital in Sherbagh Anantnag.

Aged one, four, six, eight, ten, and twelve, the five, sons of Mohammed Hussain Chopan were treated at the MCH in Sherbagh, they said, adding, “They are all stable now and out of danger.”

A Police official, however, said that it is too early to reach conclusions. “The Police is investigating the details of the incident and has sent the water to the FSL for testing,” he said.
