Six years on, health centre in Anantnag’s Dadoo awaits completion

After over six years, a health and wellness center in Dadoo area of Bijbehara hamlet in Anantnag district is awaiting completion.

The residents of the Dadoo area said that the work on the health and wellness centre in the area was started around six years ago but the building is yet to be completed.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a centre was working in a rented accommodation, however, due to unknown reasons the centre has been shifted to some other area.

“In absence of any health facilities, we are forced to visit other hospitals far from the area,” said Mohammad Abbas.

He added that the government must either dismantle the building as no work has been done there since years or make it functional on priority as locals are feeling insecure in visiting other hospitals as wild animals remain on prowl in the area.

Locals said that women and children are unable to visit other hospitals until a male person would accompany them due to fear of wild animals and dogs.

“Had there been facilities in the Dadoo village, there wouldn’t have been any necessity for locals to visit other hospitals for even minor alignments,” they said.

They said that the abandoned building is being used for anti-social activities and authorities must take cognizance of the issue immediately.

“Every evening you can find youth from different areas entering the building for drug addiction and other anti-social things,” they said.

Authorities must complete the building as soon as possible and equip it with modern facilities so that they won’t be forced to visit other places for even minor alignments.

Locals claimed that they have brought this issue in notice of higher ups uptime but their pleas are falling deaf on their ears.

They requested the CMO Anantnag and other authorities to look into the matter and take immediate steps so that locals won’t suffer any more—(KNO)
