Sopore Youth Forum (SYF)- an independent forum started by youth in the north Kashmir’s Sopore town have written to officials and made several demands for the historic town.
In a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, SYF said, that the organisation is pained at the drowning of the 15-year-old girl in the Jhelum river and her dead body not being found despite several days of search.
In their letter to the officials, SYF wrote, “We are pained to inform your august self that as you are fully aware of the current crisis Sopore has been going through regarding the suicide of a teenage girl whose body is yet to be fished out in this regard your esteemed self is requested to kindly sanction an SDRF unit in the vicinity of this town. It is an extremely useless exercise to call SDRF men from Baramulla once the men reach the spot…but till then the body gets washed away.”
In addition to this, A very important issue is drug abuse. which is at its peak we hope the district administration is highly interested in stopping this menace from further transmission, the letter read.
Demanding a De-addiction center in the town, SYF said, “A very important thing here to mention is since day 1 SSP Sopore Shabir Nawab Sahab took as police chief Sopore along with his team of SHO there have been tremendous efforts to clean this police district from certain evils…in this regard, there is an urgent need to set up a drug de-addiction center in the town.”
Furthermore, a very long pending issue is whether these bridges should be fenced properly so precious lives could be saved, the letter read.
