A specialized academy is set to be established to provide language courses in Kashmiri and Dogri at Delhi University, Ambedkar University Delhi, and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) in New Delhi, as reported by The Indian Express.
This initiative is geared towards supporting the promotion and preservation of the languages and culture of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in light of the diaspora of J&K residents, mainly comprising displaced migrants now residing in New Delhi.
The Delhi Development Authority has already issued directives to identify a suitable location for the establishment of a Kashmiri-Dogri Academy, according to the report.
Citing an official, The Indian Express mentioned that L-G VK Saxena has chaired two meetings on the matter. The Arts, Culture, and Languages (ACL) Department, the Education Department, and the universities in Delhi will play key roles in this endeavor.
“The cultural academy for J&K is expected to be operational within six months. Delhi University, GGSIPU, and Ambedkar University Delhi have been entrusted with the responsibility of teaching Kashmiri and Dogri languages, and the details of this arrangement are currently being worked out. Following its establishment, the J&K academy will collaborate with the universities, sharing manpower and expertise to impart linguistic and cultural knowledge to students,” stated the official.
The Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena also discussed the initiative with Lieutenant Governor JK Manoj Sinha, who assured support in the form of teachers, linguistic experts, and study materials.
