Srinagar man, woman go missing in Kulgam

A 27-year-old Srinagar youth has gone missing from the Kulgam district of south Kashmir, his family members said.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the family of Adil Bashir said that Adil has been missing from his home in Rainawari Srinagar since Monday, after which there is no trace of him.

Son of Bashir Ahmad Sofi , a resident of Rainawari Naidyar in Srinagar, who is by occupation a driver had left his home for some work, but has not returned since causing panic among the family members.

As per sources, the youth had fallen into the river Jhelum near Gurwathan area of South kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Following the incident, SDRF team from Kulgam and Shopian launched a joint search operation to trace and retrieve the body.

An SDRF official confirmed to The Kashmiriyat that the team of the forces are looking for two persons, including a female who have likely drowned in the river.

Meanwhile, Police have taken the Cognisance of the incident and the families have appealed to the public to help them trace their kin.

“The chances of suicide and drowning are very less, saying that the bodies may have come on the surface due to the low water level, adding that the SDRF has been pressed into the service, but as of now, there wasn’t any clue,” Police said.

The Police also confirmed the presence of the woman along with the man in a vehicle through a technical investigation.
