Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid sealed, security at Imambargah amid Pro-Palestine protests

In a bid to preempt potential pro-Palestine protests, the authorities took significant measures in Srinagar, with the historic Jamia Masjid once again closed for Friday congregation prayers.

Additionally, the renowned Kashmiri Shia Muslim preacher, Agha Syed Mohammed Hadi Kashmiri, was placed under house detention to prevent him from leading these demonstrations.

The closure of Jamia Masjid for the second consecutive week was made as a precautionary measure to thwart any potential protests in solidarity with Palestine.

This historic mosque has played a significant role in the socio-political landscape of Srinagar for decades.

Agha Syed Mohammed Hadi Kashmiri, known for his influential leadership, was slated to lead protests in support of the Palestinian people from Bemina in Srinagar.

However, authorities detained him at his residence to maintain order in the area. His active involvement in pro-Islam protests has gained widespread recognition in the past.

Notably, government force personnel were deployed outside the Imambargah in Bemina, where Agha Syed Mohammed Hadi Kashmiri leads the Friday congregation prayers to prevent protests.
