Storekeeper Suspended for Allegedly Leaving Several Villages Without Ration in Lolab

Assistant Director Food on Tuesday put under suspension a storekeeper after local residents in Sever, Gadwad, Dudhban and its adjoining areas in Lolab protested against the latter for leaving them without ration for past three months.

Assistant Director Food told GNS that he has placed the storekeeper under suspension till further orders after it was brought to his notice that the storekeeper has been lackadaisical vis-à-vis his duty. “I have placed the storekeeper namely Tariq Ah Banday under suspension till further orders”, he said adding further action as warranted would be taken against him. “I have also sought an explanation from the TSO concerned regarding his conduct”, he said.

“I will personally visit there tomorrow to oversee the distribution of ration in the villages”, he further said.

Earlier in the day, the residents of several villages alleged that they were without ration for last three months, as according to them, the storekeeper was not visiting the depot for distribution of ration.

“Despite conducting biometric and issuance of ‘slips’ we are still deprived of ration”, a group of locals said adding they received a cold shoulder even after they brought the matter into the notice of Tehsil Supply Officer. (GNS)
