Many Private as well as Government Schools in Islamabad (Anantnag) District have raised serious allegations against the District administration accusing them of forcing the schools to join the Independence day Functions on August 15.
In a written message to The Kashmiriyat the Director of a private school in Islamabad township has accused the District administration of forcing the students from private schools to participate in the Independence day functions scheduled to be held in Dak Bungalow of Islamabad (Anantnag) district.
The Director has also said that keeping the situation of the valley in view, the district administration is making the young kids scapegoats and the “safety and security” of the students is visibly of no concern to the admin.
In a telephonic conversation, another owner of a private School accusing the administration officials of being inconsiderate to the security of children said that the admin has warned them of dire consequences if they do not participate in the said function.
“They have said that they will not allow the registration processes to flow smoothly, if they do not participate in the 15 August Functions, moreover it was stressed upon,” he said, “that girl students be made to participate in huge numbers,” he told The Kashmiriyat.
A school owner who wished not to be named for the fear of being prosecuted said that, “It is shameful how the administration to show their success are using the young kids as shields.” He also said that most of the private schools had skipped the 16 January Function this year.
He also said that many officials from revenue department have been visiting some schools all of a sudden to conduct inspections ahead of the 15 August Day only in selective schools which they assume will not participate in the event, hence building pressure on the Schools to participate in the Indian Independence day function.
A Revenue official upon being contacted by The Kashmiriyat denied the charges and said the charges are baseless.
“We have been conducting inspections in the schools upon receiving complaints against them,” the official said.
Earlier this year a Student studying in Army School had been threatened to participate in the Republic Day function on January 26.
In a letter drafted to the parents of the student, the school had warned that the student will be terminated from the school, if he does not participate in the event.
The Chief Education officer and Deputy commissioner of Islamabad (Anantnag) district were unavailable for comments on the issue.
