Another South Kashmir Youth Joins Militancy

November 03 The Government Forces despite launching a massive crackdown against Militants in Jammu Kashmir have largely failed to keep a check at the Militant recruitment as more local youth continue to pick up arms. Despite having killed more than 230 Militants the last year, this year Militant recruitment has crossed the highest number in the last ten years as it stands at 175 in the first ten months of 2018. The Indian Security Forces have made efforts to contain Militancy as the Local Police and the Indian Army has been asking the local youth to stay away from Militancy, In fact some youth have given up arms and returned to their families, however the overall picture continues to remain grim, as Kashmir remains on the edge. A Night of Fear in Kulgam Village

August 18 Shah Shahid The Locals of the Bhan area in Quimoh tehsil of South Kashmir's Kulgam District have accused the Indian Army of committing excesses against the local populace of the area. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the locals said that the forces barged into the village after a minor stone throwing incident nearby and smashed everything that met their eye. "Four Load carriers, Two Tractors, Four Cars, One passenger bus, one JCB was damaged in the action of the forces before they started smashing the window panes of at least a fifty houses," a Local Shahid Ahmed told The Kashmiriyat. Massive Fire Engulfs Kulgam Area, 3 Residential Houses Damaged

July 02 Two Residents Houses were partially and one completely damaged when massive fire engulfed the Sheikh Mohallah area in Bongam area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Monday morning. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the house of one Mohammed Yusuf Sheikh from the locality was completely gutted in the fire. People and fire services tried to doze off the fire, but not before it has damaged three residential houses in the Kulgam area. The immediate reason of the fire could not be known. Mohammed Yusuf Sheikh while speaking to The Kashmiriyat demanded compensation from the Government as he has been forced to stay outdoors.
