The Pentagon has said that the Taliban Government is likely to provide aid to Militant outfits in Kashmir.
According to news reports, the Pentagon- headquarters of the US Department of Defense has advised India to be on alert, claiming that the Taliban government may provide aid to Militant organizations operating in Kashmir.
A top Pentagon official was quoted as saying, “India is concerned about the current situation in Afghanistan, but India also needs to be concerned that the Taliban government may provide aid to Militant organizations based around Kashmir.”
US Under Secretary of Defense Dr. Colin H. Kahl told members of the Senate Armed Services Committee during a hearing on Afghanistan, South and Central Asia Security, “I am sure you are aware that India is concerned about the developments in Afghanistan are concerned about. They are also very worried about the instability there.”
According to the report, Kahl said, “India’s policies towards Afghanistan are largely conceived keeping in mind the competition and proxy conflict with Pakistan.”
Kahl said, “Our commitment to joint cooperation and working closely with India as the only designated major defense partner of the United States is important for us to understand and so is India’s approach to Afghanistan,” he said.
