The Taliban on Monday morning claimed the control over several areas, including the former stronghold of Kandahar.

‘Geo News’ in its report quoting officials has said that the Taliban have captured Panjwai district after a fierce clash with the security forces of Afghanistan. Panjwai district was captured two days after US and NATO forces evacuated their main Bagram Air Base near Kabul. It is the same district from where America and NATO campaigned against the Taliban and its allies for two decades.

The Taliban claims that it has taken control of a third of the 421 districts. Mohib-ul-Rahman, a member of the organization’s provincial council, has said that several districts of Badakhshan in the northeast have been abandoned by Afghan security forces without a fight.

The Taliban spokesman claims that in the last three days at least ten districts have come under Taliban control without any conflict. At the same time, in Northern Afghanistan, a large number of Afghan soldiers have left the front and gone to Tajikistan.

The report of ‘Ariana News’ said that the Taliban have imposed strict laws in many areas.
