The tug of war between two communities over a piece of land prompted authorities to impose restrictions on Friday in Rajouri town of Jammu and Kashmir.
A police official confirmed to news agency Kashmir News Trust that restrictions have been imposed in Rajouri town under section 144 CrPC.
Locals said that police were seen making announcements through public address system asking people to stay indoors and traders not to open up their shops.
Tension is brewing between two communities in the town over a piece of land with both the communities claiming ownership rights of the land.
Restrictions have been imposed to maintain law and order.
An order issued by the concerned Tehsildar with regard to the disputed land states that it has been attached under section 145 CrPC and placed under SHO’s custody till case is decided by the court of law. (KNT)
