Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip have expressed support for the Iranian retaliation against the Israeli regime.
Late on Saturday, massive demonstrations took place in Gaza and West bank territories to welcome the retaliation of Israel by the Iranian forces. Iran fired over 100 unmanned drones and missiles at Israel, may hit their desired targets.
As per Iranian media, the Rolan airbase, which was used to launch attacks on Iranian embassy in Syria, was attacked. The Israeli military bombed the Iranian embassy in Syria on April 1 killing at least five Iranian officials.
Following this Iran’s Supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei issued a stern warning to Israel stating that Israel will have to pay back for its sins including the killing of innocent Palestinians. Following these threats, Israel reportedly pulled most of its troops out of southern Gaza bringing a slight relief to the Palestinian residents where over 33,000 people have lost their lives in Israeli attacks since October last year.
Palestinians have expressed hope that Iran will continue putting pressure on Israel. The Axis of resistance must help the people of Palestine, the resident of Gaza said, in an interview with media. “We thank Iran, we want more pressure on the Israeli regime, a Palestinian resident said.
He said that the Axis of Resistance headed by Iran consisting of several other nations must help the people of Palestine more. “Everyone in Palestine is supporting Iran’s attacks,” he said.
Meanwhile, Middle East Monitor reported that during the Iranian attacks no attacks were conducted on Gaza by Israel. “It is the first night that Israeli planes are not attacking Gaza. It is due to Iranian strikes,” said a local resident.
As per Daily Beast, overnight on Saturday and into the early hours of Sunday morning, a fervent crowd gathered in the streets of Ramallah, eagerly pointing towards the skies ablaze with the trails of flying missiles, some intercepted mid-air.
In a scene reminiscent of Palestinian neighborhoods in East Jerusalem, chants of “Allah u Akbar” resonated among the crowd with each new fiery streak across the heavens.
Several Palestinians in Ramallah, speaking anonymously to The Daily Beast, expressed their support for Iran’s retaliation. They cited the risk of arrest by Israeli authorities for expressing such sentiments or even showing sympathy towards the plight of Gazans.
“I believe it’s necessary; Israel must vacate our land,” asserted a uniformed Palestinian policeman stationed near the city center in Ramallah.
“Israel ought to learn a lesson; it can’t perpetually target Muslims and Palestinians without expecting repercussions,” echoed another, an employee at a local restaurant.
