The Kashmiriyat Editor Qazi Shibli Detained by Cyber Crime Cell in Srinagar

The Kashmiriyat editor, Qazi Shibli has now been detained by the Cyber Crime Cell in Srinagar. The Kashmiriyat spoke to Qazi Shibli’s family and we were told that after waiting for more than 8 hours outside the Cyber Cell, police officials said that the family could go back home as Shibli had been detained.

His family members said that they were finally content and fortunate that after years, everyone in their family would be spending the auspicious festivities of Eid-al-Adha together. But, the news of his detention has left everyone desponded and miserable.

Shibli got a call from the Cyber Police station at around 2:15 PM on Thursday asking him to present himself in the Police Station in Srinagar on Friday.

Shibli was previously detained for nine months in a prison in Uttar Pradesh’s, Bareilly on the 25th of April 2019 under the Public Safety Act (PSA). The charges were later revoked on the 13th of April 2020 after the jails were decongested because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Qazi Shibli’s 2019 detention was after he was summoned by a local police station on July 27th2019 for reporting and tweeting a leaked government order regarding additional troop build-up in the Valley.
