‘They want to make the Farmers Slaves of Corporates’- Protest Staged in Kashmir in Support of Farmers

Members of the Institute of Gurmat Studies (IGS) from Kashmir along with local Muslims staged a peaceful protest at press colony Srinagar condemned the brute force on peaceful farmers in Punjab. 

The protesters were carrying placards which read “Stand with farmers” Down with RSS” and “Farmers are our pride”.

Chanting slogans against Modi led BJP Bhartiya Janta party Government and termed the new form bills are nothing but to harm the survival of farmers of Punjab. 

The President of the Institute of Gurmeet Studies (IGS) Murkeet Singh Babar told The Kashmiriyat that such bills would adversely affect farmers In Punjab. 

He said that these bills are not in favor of farmers. “Passing such bills in the Parliament is nothing but an attempt to make slaves of farmers by the hands of private companies,” he added.

He further said that Sikhs from the different areas of Punjab hit the streets peacefully. But, water cannons and baton charges were used against them.

They warned the Central Government if such laws will not be revoked, the Sikh community in Kashmir will extend full hand support against these laws.

The angry youths from the Sikh community also lashed out at the National media for not giving any coverage to the peaceful farmers’ protest and condemned their dead silence.

Pertinently the farmers have been protesting in Punjab and parts of North India for more than a month now after the Modi-led BJP Government passed three new Farm bills which give access to the private corporates to the Indian Agriculture.

The farmers have been demanding a roll-back of the three ‘discriminative’ bills.
