Three militants killed in Awantipora encounter, says Police

Three militants have been killed during the encounter in the Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that Jammu Kashmir Police, CRPF, and RR of the Indian Army laid a cordon and search operation in the Awantipora area following an input about militant presence in the area.

Gunfire was exchanged during the cordon between the militants and the Government forces, during which three militants were killed, he said.

The identity of the militants has not been confirmed as of yet, the official said.

Meanwhile, Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the forces are still present and the search operation is going on in the area.

“As per our source, 1 is FT & 1 local terrorist of LeT namely Mukhtiyar Bhat, involved in several terror crimes including the killing of 01 ASI of CRPF & 2 RPF personnel. A big success for us:,” the Jammu Kashmir Police tweeted.
