Three juveniles who were arrested and charged with the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act were granted bail today. Abdul Hameed Lone, a family member of one of three confirmed that they have been released after being granted bail.
Mohsin Ali Mir, the lawyer of the three accused, speaking to The Kashmiriyat told that the police had forced a precarious law like UA(P)A on these three children simply based on doubt.
Police argued that these three youngsters were suspected to be engaged with the IED Blast that occurred on 16th May in the Shopian district, yet they didn’t have any proof, witnesses, or evidence related to it, Mohsin Ali Mir who is an advocate at Shopian District court said.
Whereas, the kids were playing cricket at least two or three hundred meters away from the place where the blast took place.
Mohsin further added that a fourth juvenile who was arrested around 20 days back is likewise confronting trial in this case and it is expected that he, too, will be released on bail very soon.
The incident does raise concerns here; that the vote based system of this nation has become so hollow that just to hide any intelligence failure, even school going kids will be arrested simply based on suspicion, and with no proof, the state can force one of the most deceptive laws on them?
