Three senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members have resigned from the party following the statement by Mehbooba Mufti regarding the Indian national flag.
TS Bajwa, Hassan Ali Waffa and Ved Mahajan submitted their resignation letters to the party on Monday.
While talking to The Kashmiriyat, Najmu Saqib, spokesperson, J&K PDP confirmed the news.
“These kinds of rumbles keep happening in a party and the party president will reach out independently to all the members to understand their stance,” he told The Kashmiriyat.
When asked about whether the members who have resigned are against the restoration of Article 370, Saqib said, “There are often differences in the ideologies of party members and things cannot be put down people’s throat against their wish. They have wilfully resigned but the party will try its best to understand the underlying reasons behind their resignation.”
In her first press conference after the release from a 14-month detention since August 5, Mehbooba Mufti had said that she will only hold the national tri-colour flag after the flag of Jammu Kashmir is restored.
