In a recent Traffic Advisory released by the Traffic Police City Srinagar, the commuters have been informed that the “Boulevard Road Srinagar from Badyari to Nishat & Gupkhar Road will remain closed for general traffic in connection with visit of VVIP from 23rd to 25th October, 2021.”

The commuters have been “requested to opt for Foreshore – Habak – Hazratbal route OR Tailbal – Zakoora – Hazratbal route and Badyari-Hazratbal route for return journey.”

As far as the tourists are concerned, the advisory says that they will be allowed up to Nehru Park after “proper verification of their places of stay.”

The route for medical emergencies, however, shall be decided on spot, the advisory says.

It is pertinent to mention that the Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a visit to the region from 23-25 October. Security has been tightened in the valley in view of the targeted civilian killings. In Srinagar city, frisking has been intensified. Women folk, however, have complained against frisking in open.

Amid several reports of massive bike seizure and internet shutdown in Srinagar, the IGP Kashmir tweeted from Kashmir Police’s official twitter handle and said that the seizure and the internet shutdown was being done in view of militancy related activities and not Amit Shah’s visit.
