Various officials of the Jammu Kashmir Police in the wake of global pandemic and the escalating number of coronavirus cases have been asked to resume their training in Udhampur Police Academy.

These officers had joined the Udhapur academy for one year training on 26 June 2019 and were able to complete only 9 months training, Now they have been ordered to show up at the Academy for remaining training.
The Kashmiriyat also accessed a wireless communication dated 05 July , which asked the Police officials to return to the training centres, despite the covid 19 cases being on massive rise and the number of covid cases having crossed 7 Lakh.
Earlier on 18th March, the Udhampur Trainning centre was closed down after the Pandemic spread in India and an order was sent stating that the training centres be closed and the trainees be sent back to their respective district Police Lines.
“We have been doing our duty at various Police Lines, this spontaneous order amid the growing cases of coronavirus is a sad sight and our families are not allowing us to resume training, we are not shying away from doing our duties, but right now joining the training makes us more prone to risk of being exposed to the deadly virus,” an official said while speaking to The Kashmiriyat.
The Policemen have been asked to resume their training on July 12.
Pertinently, Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur was closed on 18 March following the Covid-19 pandemic breakout. Over 600 Sub-Inspectors and 5 Deputy Superintendent of Police officers were undergoing training at the Academy at the time of closure.
The Director General of Police did not respond to the query, when The Kashmiriyat tried to contact him.
However, another senior Police official was quoted by Kashmir news trust as saying that the standard operational procedures issued by the Health Departments will be followed during the training.
