In view of the anniversary of the revocation of Article 370 and 35A an order has been issued by the District Magistrate, Srinagar, stating that strict restrictions will be imposed in the capital city of Srinagar.

The order stated the reason for the restrictions as “a series of inputs have been received suggesting that separatists and Pakistan sponsored groups are planning to observe 5th August as a black day”.

The authorities were seen laying restrictions on 3rd August, Monday, with loudspeakers announcing curfew and imposing restrictions on public movement.

Police and paramilitary forces sealed the market places and roads.

The DC Srinagar, Shahid Choudhary said, “ large gatherings will be detrimental, we cannot allow these gatherings due to COVID-19.”

5th August 2019, marks the day when the special status of the Jammu Kashmir was revoked and the state was bifurcated into two union territories, Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir.

A massive communication blockade was put in place and mainstream political leaders, separatists, activists, civilians, and journalists were arrested and booked under PSA’s on 5th August last year.
