Guftar Ahmad Choudhary, the political activist and the spokesperson of the Gujjar Bakarwal Youth Welfare Conference, spoke to the media along with former Legislator Javed Ranaa, and the former M.L.A from Rajouri, Choudhary Qammar and the spokesperson of PDP, Tanzeem Dar and other political activists regarding provincial status for Peer Panjal.

He said that the crux of the gathering was to talk about Rajouri, Poonch and Pir Panjal. He said that in response to the wave that has been created around giving Jammu the statehood back, leaving the rest of the areas, “We, the people of Rajouri, want to make it clear that if the people of Jammu are asking for the statehood over two or two and a half districts, we don’t have any problem with that.”

“But”, he said, “the people of Rajouri and Poonch, will take this protest to the Chenab.”

“We want to make it clear that either we demand a united Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh and if not, then we demand provincial status for Pir Panjal” said Guftar Ahmad.

He also added that it was just the beginning and that they will take this protest to every village.

“We strongly condemn the division of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh on 5th Aug, 2019,” he said.

And said that whenever there’s an important meeting with the P.M. at New Delhi, no one is asked to represent Pir Panjal, Poonch or Rajouri. “Thousands of our people have sacrificed their lives on the border but they are not represented anywhere,” said Ahmad.

But this time, Ahmad said they had decided to take the movement to every door. “Be it the old or the young, the movement to talk about Pir Panjal will be carried to every door step.”

He, later, took to his social media accounts to express that two districts of Jammu have no Right to represent Peer Panjal, “We have a Separate Identity.”
