Two militant modules busted in Kulgam, 5 LeT associates arrested: Police

Jammu Kashmir Police said that it has successfully busted two militant modules operating in the Kulgam, and arrested five suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) militants.

In a statement, Police said that the operation conducted by Police along with 1RR, 9RR, 18 Bn CRPF, and 46 BN CRPF also resulted in the confiscation of a substantial quantity of arms and ammunition, reinforcing the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat militancy in the area.

The operation, carried out with precision and coordination, yielded a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition from the possession of the apprehended individuals.

Among the seized items were two pistols, three hand grenades, one under-barrel grenade launcher (UBGL), two pistol magazines, 12 pistol rounds, and 21 rounds for an AK-47 assault rifle.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Aadil Hussain Wani, son of Lal Din Wani, residing in Poniwah, Suhail Ahmad Dar, son of Siraj Ahmad Dar, hailing from Bugam, Aitmad Ahmad Laway, son of Abdul Rashid Laway, residing in Barzloo Jageer, Mehraj Ahmad Lone, son of Bashir Ahmad Lone, living in Hawoora and Sabzar Ahmad Khaar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Khar, a resident of Ghat Redwani Payeen.

Both cases related to these arrests have been registered, with FIR No. 62/2023 at Police Station Qaimoh and FIR No. 167/2023 filed under the relevant sections of the law.

The investigations into both cases are now underway, as the authorities work diligently to uncover any potential links and networks associated with these individuals.

The successful operation reflects the unwavering commitment of the security forces and law enforcement agencies in the Kulgam district to maintain peace and stability in the region.
