Two Militants have been killed in the encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Wanpora area of Redwani in Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday morning.
Officials told The Kashmiriyat that a cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in the area by joint team of forces including 1 RR, CRPF and Special Operations Group of Jammu Police on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area in wee hours of Saturday.
The official said that, after trapping the militants, they were asked to surrender, however, they opened fire, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.
During the heated exchange of gunfire, two militants were killed, who are yet to be identified, initial reports suggest that the duo are locals, The Searches are still on, however the firing has stopped, an official at the encounter site said.

The family of one of the Militants who is a local and has been killed at the site of the encounter have been demanding back his body, The Forces in the past few encounter have been silently burying the Militant bodies far away from their home.
Meanwhile people in large number threw stones on Government Forces, who fired tear smoke shells and pellets at these protesters, which included a large number of women.
Mobile Internet services have been suspended in the Kulgam District of South Kashmir.
