Vaccination Drive Kickstarted for Age group 18-45 for Uri Residents

Amid a spike in Covid deaths and at a time when breaking the chain of the lethal virus holds key to tackle the pandemic, the vaccination programme for the 18-45 age group in North Kashmir’s Uri is moving smoothly.

Though, as a part of the UT Wide programme, Jammu and Kashmir also kick started the vaccination drive for optics at Public Health centre (PHC) Boniyar and Public Health Centre (PHC) Uri.

“1000 doses of Covishield were given to us and hence the vaccination process been initiated for the age group of 18-44. As and when this stock will end the government will provide us more stocks, the 18-45 age group will be vaccinated accordingly,” said the Block medical Officer Dr Mohd Ramzan told ‘The Kashmiriyat’

Dr Ramzan emphasized on the need to follow protocols such as wearing mask, hand , respiratory hygiene and social distancing. He also lauded his team for leading from the front who received the first shot of the vaccine which he said will give confidence and boost to other healthcare workers.

Dr Parvaiz Masoodi the concerned medical officer of Public Health Centre Boniyar in an telephonic conversation with the The Kashmiriyat correspondent said “The process of vaccination is going smoothly in all the five vaccination sites which includes, Court Complex Boniyar, Market Boniyar, Trikanjan market, Bijhama market and Nowshera market. Folks are cooperating with us and and taking a huge participation in this drive of vaccination”.

It may be stated here that on May 25, the Jammu and Kashmir administration had stated that the vaccination drive for the age group of 18-44 stocks were awaited.

Waseem Bazaz, 28, who took the first jab of Covishield today at Court Complx Boniyar told The Kashmiriyat that ” I am happy to get vaccinated and I express my extreme gratitude to health department and frontline workers who are risking their lives and working for us. I request people of Sub division Uri especially youngsters to please don’t believe in rumors and go out for vaccination”.

However, some pictures of the youngsters showing them getting the first jab are widely circulating on social media platforms which is widely appreciated by the common masses.

Social Activist hailing from the Border town Boniyar Mr Sheikh Muneeb while speaking to “The Kashmiriyat” appreciated all healthcare workers for their efforts in fighting Covid-19 pandemic. He also appealed general public to follow the Covid-19 protocols in letter and spirit till the pandemic is over and appealed the masses to go for the vaccination.
