Valley Parts Shut Down Against the Killing of Zakir Musa- Geelani’s Group had Asked People to Reopen Business

Hundreds of youth gathered around Jamia Masjid in Srinagar to offer funeral prayers in absentia to slain militant commander, Zakir Musa on Sunday morning, however forces soon reached the area and chased the youth away.

Most parts of the Srinagar are observing a shutdown amid restrictions in various parts of the downtown in Srinagar, while South Kashmir streets are witnessing deserted streets and Government Force personnel vigil on the streets.

In Shopian, Kulgam and Islamabad (anantnag) townships, Government Force personnel have been deployed in large numbers to prevent any protests, Shops, Business establishments and offices remained shut in these areas while traffic movement on the streets was very thin.

In Pulwama district, Forces are seen patrolling the streets, Locals said that the vehicles of Government Forces are doing rounds of villages and disallowing any public gathering anywhere.

Mobile Internet services have been snapped in most parts of the Kashmir valley post Thursday evening when the slain commander was trapped in an encounter.

Pertinently Hurriyat led by Geelani had asked people to resume their normal business on Sunday.
