A Kashmiri youth who was working in Punjab’s Ludhiana has been missing since February 17, 2023, his family said.

On Thursday, his family staged a protest to demand the Government’s intervention to find Peer Firdous Ahmed, a resident of Kralpora Kupwara.

Talking to The Kashmiriyat, a sister of the Firdous Ahmed said that their elder brother has been missing for the last one month and seventeen days.

Protesting relatives said that last time when he was seen in Punjab, he had his head injured and arm fractured. “He was working in Ludhiana in a private firm. The last time we contacted him, he told his mother to take care of herself and he was going to be fine, then he disconnected the call,” a relative said.

The family tried to contact him several times after that. In fact, his uncle went to Punjab where his roommates said that they had lost contact with Firdous two days before he had called home, his uncle told The Kashmiriyat.

He said that Firdous was spotted near a small canal for the last time. “I followed the canal and it was there that a shopkeeper told me that he had spotted him going towards the city,” he said.

“He is MA, B.ED. I went to almost every hotel in Ludhiana, but no one had a clue about him, has he been kidnapped or has he committed suicide?” his uncle asked. During the quest to find him, a man duped us of 12,000 rupees and told us that he is in Tihar jail.

The family said that they have filed a missing report, but nobody was taking the matter seriously. “We want justice,” said his younger sister while demanding government intervention into the matter.
