Inhabitants of Shaladajan village of North Kashmir’s Boniyar have expressed resentment over dilapidated condition of a link road connecting the villages to Nowshera market on National Highway and urged the government to take urgent steps for its repair.

A group of villagers started filling the potholes by using their own resources where they said that the road surface was extremely muddy and due to slippery conditions in winters, the commuters and pedestrians face a tough time.

The residents said the road link has been lying in a dilapidated condition for last couple of years and the authorities have failed to ensure timely repairs.

They further said that almost 4 km stretch of the link road is in a bad condition which causes extreme inconvenience to the commuters and passersby.

“In dry season, the dust causes so much distress while in the wet weather, it is impossible to set foot on the road due to accumulation of mud,” said one of the local to The Kashmiriyat.

“Due to bad condition of the road and lack of proper drainage system, the road becomes prone to accidents,” he added.

The locals appealed to the District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Sub Divisional magistrate Uri and concerned department to make possible the repairs of the road at the earliest so that locals don’t suffer anymore.
